Allergic conjunctivitis

One of the most common forms of allergic conjunctivitis is hay fever conjunctivitis.

Symptoms

  • Itching
  • Stinging
  • Severe swelling of the eyelids
  • Severe reddening

Potential causes

  • Allergic reactions, e.g. to certain types of food, dust, ointments, cosmetics or dog and cat hair
  • Pollen in spring or summer, which frequently also leads to hay fever
  • Lack of or insufficient glasses

What you can do yourself

To prevent or at least alleviate the symptoms, it is often sufficient to avoid the materials to which you are allergic. If you do not know what these are, it is a good idea to take an allergy test. Eye drops are also useful in this regard.
